Depth To Water And Bedrock At A Ground Water Recharge Facility In Salton Trough
A ground water recharge facility needed cost effective estimates of the potential aquifer characteristics of the area down-gradient of the planned facility. A combination reflection and transient electromagnetic (TEM) survey produced a mile long cross section of subsurface conditions without the expense of installing wells. Reflection survey delineated near horizontal soil boundaries within the alluvium. Five TEM soundings showed vertical changes in electrical resistivities that were interpreted as potential aquifers/aquitards, granitic bedrock, and the regional ground water level.
